Southern Cornbread Salad



Components



  • 1 package deal (eight-1/2 ounces) cornbread/muffin mix

  • one cup sour cream

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix

  • 3 huge tomatoes, seeded and chopped

  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper

  • one/two cup chopped green pepper

  • one cup thinly sliced green onions, div > See Recipe


Instructions



  • Put together and bake cornbread combine according to package instructions, utilizing an eight-in. square baking dish. Crumble when cool.

  • Combine sour cream, mayonnaise and salad dressing combine until blended. In a separate bowl, combine tomatoes, peppers and 1/two cup green onions.

  • In a 3-qt. glass bowl, layer half of each: cornbread, beans, tomato mixture, cheese, bacon, corn and dressing. Repeat layers. Top with remaining green onions. Refrigerate 3 hrs.

I made this salad for dinner last night and it was a hit! My eight yr old grandson asked his normal question anytime he realizes that I am preparing dinner, "What are you cooking?" When I advised him the night's menu, he needed to know what other sides we should add to the menu. My response was to inform him what the elements have been and that I regarded southern cornbread a meal within itself. later on, even though he was eating, he said "Granny this cornbread salad is delicious!" The rest of the family members also loved it. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I just l I did include meat and a leafy salad.

Really great and rather to serve. I followed the recipe except for the beans. I utilised a single can pinto and 1 can of black beans. I also utilised canned corn simply because that is what I had on hand. I believed this would turn into a massive pile of mush but it did not. Little ones would not go close to it but all the adults really like it. Thanks for posting.


I loved this recipe, I produced it with black eyed peas as an alternative of pinto beans, I employed currently crumbled bacon and additional a selection of the peppers Green, Yellow, Red and Orange. It was so good. My entire Loved ones Loved it. Defiantly a single for a picnic or back yard BBQ

This recipe is wonderful!! I made this for our memorial day bbq and it was a wonderful success! It tasted even far better the following day. It's been requested for our 4th of July bbq also.


Wonderful salad. I've been making this for years. Often I sub chili beans for the pinto beans and I usually get rid of the bacon to make it purely vegetarian.
